Hops are gone. A local home brewer that brought by some home brew and a few others. Nice guy for sure! Cheers! We need all the good karma we can get. Haha. Cheers and thanks for all the interest.
Hahaha. Thats pretty much why I am not brewing at the moment. I have an almost 2 year old, with another on the way and prepping a house for sale. So, needless to say its crazy around my house. Good luck to you. I have some local guys that might grab them. Ill let you know if they fall through...
I have a bunch of 2013 crop hops that I am not going to use. I bought them with full intention to brew a bunch, and I only used a few ounces. Here is what I have. If you want some, you take them all. I am giving them ALL to a home brewer like myself.
My brewing is going to be on hold for at...
Well, finally opened up a RIS that I made about 8 months ago. It's tasting okay right now. A lot less boozy than the last one I tried but still has some aging to do. A little bit of chocolate but heavy raisin and dried fruit tones.
It's not supposed to taste the same. They have a new recipe each time. Usually with whatever the freshest "trendiest" hops are at the time. I usually buy one each time they come out and that's it. A $9 bomber is a bit much!!
I never replied back about how my second batch of DY House Pale turned out. It's great!
I used primarily Zythos and Citra with bittering of Apollo. Heavy citrus notes, but after tasting it has a good solid malt backbone that cuts through some of the heavy hops. It's really tasty! We tapped the...
Well, it was actually yesterday but I brewed a batch while watching my 7 month old son! It was an absolute challenge, but it worked. Opened my eyes that it was actually possible to do. Maybe another batch soon???
Thanks for the link. The article is pretty vague, but the fact that there will be "leftover chemical compounds" is the part that gets me. Is it from the algae itself or is it from the "filtering" they will be doing? Very interesting. This drought is changing things so much in the state, and...
Brewed this again (3rd time) today. Used Apollo to bitter, and used Citra and Zythos hops for the rest. I used a full ounce of Zythos and Citra at flameout and let them sit for about 10 minutes. Not a full 30 - 45 like I would for my IPA's. The wort smelled great. Cant wait to see how this turns...
I have not heard this. But I am guilty of not really being "in-tune" with whats going on with our water. I am in Walnut Creek, and I guess we will see how it affects brewing. Do you have any links or info on what is going ot happen? Where is the new source?
