I used my plastic big mouth for the first time this weekend and one thing I noticed is that the plastic is rather thin. Especially at the bottom where you would install the base valve. I dont see it working, or lasting very long.
I took advantage of Midwest's Buy One Get One Free Fathers day sale last weekend and mine arrived today. I cant wait to put my old glass Carboys on Craigslist and strictly use these. I already know cleanup is going to go so much easier and faster!
Now that you can get Munich LME, what would be a good amount for an extract version of this recipe?
I ready all 27 pages and didnt see a mention of this yet. Thanks
Great Kit. The best advice I have is to try to keep your fermentation temp in the low 60s. 62 is perfect for me. If you let your fermentation temp get too high you will have a lot of banana flavor.
I use 2lb of unsweetend coconut in a porter and it turned out amazing!
I have never had any bad results using coconut.
Perhaps the lemon is overpowering the coconut, or you are not toasting it long enough? I have never had any bad results using coconut.
Brace yourselves, Here comes another converting to extract question.......
I have read all 25 pages and Edwort mentioned that you can now buy Munich LME to replace the Munich steeping grains. Is One LB of Munich LME all that is needed to replace the 1 lb of Munich grains?
So I would use 6.7...
I have brewed Schlenkerla's Amber from the recipe section several times and it has turned out great. I have subsituted different hops to change it up a bit. I really like it using Amarillo.
