    Same Pressure / Different Results

Good Evening All, I need a little collective brainstorming. I have a basic 3 tap keezer with all three running off a 10 lb tank and a simple manifold to split. All have 8 ft beer lines that are the exact same (cut from one single length). All have perlick taps. However, one pours...

    Confession Time

I have broken 2 hydrometer sample tubes and zero actual hydrometers.

    Cypress Infusion Spirals

Has anyone used the Cypress Infusion Spirals available through Farmhouse Brewing Supply (and probably elsewhere)? http://www.farmhousebrewingsupply.com/cypress-infusion-spirals-2-pack-light-toast/ The description claims to contribute primary characteristics of yellow cake, vanilla wafer...

    Northern Brewer Final Gravity Hydrometer

Can someone please double check my logic here or offer some experience/advice? I recently purchased the Lab Grade Hydrometer .980-1.020 from NB linked below. When i got it home, i tested it with distilled water (at calibration temp) and got a reading of .997. Not a huge difference, but...

    Ft. Myers Vacation

I am heading to Ft. Myers/Fape Coral area for a week from the Midwest. Besides buying as much cigar city as I can find....I there anything notable in the beer world to check out? Breweries, bottle shops, bars, or regionally available brands I may not be aware of? Thanks for the help.

    Carbing multiple beers at once

I too was distracted from your question by my jealousy of all your space. Do you brew in a barn or something?

A beer style that introduced you to craft beer, and now you can't stand?

Easy....Fat Tire. Used to travel out of state for it, still have a sanke keg from new Belgium acting as a table and went crazy when it finally made it to Illinois. Now I bet it's been 5 years since I had one.

    Beersmith Flame-out IBU's

I just noticed while creating a new IPA recipe that Beersmith adds a positive IBU value for Steep/Whirlpool hops but not for flame out hops (entered as Boil hops for zero minutes). My understanding is that IBU's are a function of the Alpha acid (mainly), the volume of the hops, and the time...

    East coast IPA recipe

I just kicked a keg that had exactly the mouthfeel and look that you are looking for. Hop bill is completely up to you as I was doing a bit of a Star Wars shout out with Millennium and Falconer's Flight. 80% Golden Promise 8% White Wheat Malt 6% Oats 3% Vienna 3% Honey OG 1.064 / FG...

How do you think homebrewing conventional wisdom will change in the future?

I also brewed a bit about 6 years ago, left it and then came back heavy in the past 2 years. (seems like a lot of us are in the same boat) I totally agree with your observations and I could not be happier with the developments! When i brewed a while ago I thought i would never go all grain...

    Going from copying to creating

Watch Drew Beechum's talk "Brewing on the ones".....it's basically advocating SMASH +. Great info on creating simple recipes and finding your way. Any one of the posters above would probably agree.

Achieving a silky/pillowy/creamy mouthfeel (a la Hill Farmstead)?

I just wanted to say thanks to anyone who responded. I know that in some forums it is cardinal sin to ask or re-ask questions without checking previous forum posts for answers. Just another sign that the HBT community rocks.

Achieving a silky/pillowy/creamy mouthfeel (a la Hill Farmstead)?

You can call me lazy or just ignore me....but pouring through 53 pages of developing narrative is tough. I have followed this thread for a couple months and really just have one question... For those who have chased this goal a while...what kind of water profile are you targeting? Any general...

    PH - Process double check

Long story short...I only have ph strips right now (a meter is on the Christmas list) and they consistently show ph levels well below the measurable range. Long story. I am a 5 gallon batch full volume BIAB brewer and I utilize Beersmith for recipe building and have been using Bru'n Water to...

Going to Be In Traverse City, Where to Go?

I vacation up on the Leelanau Peninsula yearly...I second shorts...very good stuff. If you do end up driving up the peninsula then northport brewing and hoplot are new but worth checking out. Beers aren't amazing, but very good and the ambiance/experience is worth it. But...of all the wineries...
