OK as a stop gap I'll make an adapter and hose for the output side of my keg and just crash the temp. I dont plan on bottling all the time but i would like the option since I'm not making a kegerator anytime soon
I'm getting ready to pressure ferment in a Keg starting later this week. Can i make an inexpensive adapter to my Keg that connects to a spring loaded bottling wand? something like just the connecter to the keg enough 3/8th line coming off of it and connect my wand to that then bottle that way...
Ended up with more Fresh cider then expected. So I did a 3 gallon mash and had just over 2 gallons after boil. going to back sweeten with Cider once its done fermenting. Currently fermenting nicely should be done with primary this weekend. I plan on racking to a secondary and lowering the...
So I'm looking to make a batch with Apple Cider over Apple Juice. I have 2 gallons of cider already and was looking for a 3-4 gallon batch. Can go either all grain or extract for the ale side. Would just over 1 gallon of wort be the right ratio for this recipe. I can add Irish moss to the...
Worst case scenario and your yeast for one reason or another has reached its limit. There are a couple of ways to fix this. The easiest is to agitate as others have said and let it warm up a bit, not sure what you are keeping the temp at in your fermentation room so it may want to be higher on...
Hey all,
I've been saving/freezing tons of berries and random fruit that the kids weren't going to finish before it went bad over the course of spring and summer. Mostly blueberry and strawberry with about a pound maybe two of grapes. Getting ready to start a wine with it. I don't want to...
I actually keep a few metal steins for this type of testing. I am also not a fan of piss warm beer, so 15 or so minutes before opening the warm beer i pop a metal stein into my freezer. it chills the beer enough after a few minutes to be able to enjoy it.
only time I have had issues with...
I have steeped it in a few beers. The lighter the beer the more obvious it comes through. My honey brown beers have needed a little more for it to shine were as my wheat beers i used it in needed less. it will also depend on if you want it as a main flavor point or an accent to something else.
no problem, I did 3 gallons this past winter and i couldnt keep my family from drinking it. i think it was bottled for 1 week plus a few days to carb up
I just brewed a similar beer.
5 lbs wheat DME
0.5 lbs cara 10
0.5 lbs honey malt
1oz magnum
1oz lemon drop
1oz citra
Zest of 2 oranges
Us-04 yeast
Magnum was 60
10 minutes for citra
Lemon drop at flame out
I made a small batch for a taste a few months back and it was a hit.
After some advice from a brewing friend I put off my first recipe a little longer. Just made this wheat beer today
2lbs wheat extract
1lbs light extract
0.4 oz crystal hops (60 min)
0.4 oz citra hops (15 min)
0.5 oz lemon drop hops at flame out.
Cara 10l 0.5lbs
Honey malt 0.5lbs steeped for...
I ended up doing that with this one. After talking to the wife about the space heater and my LHBS I used a dry lager yeast and its happily making me some beer currently
By the end of the summer I'll have a fridge with temp control in it the basement. The boys will need a new small space heater for the bedroom next winter anyway so I am going to get it after Christmas is over and borrow it
Actually picking up a small electric space heater here soon. Will run an extension cord for it till this summer when my brother in law helps me run a box to the room
