    This is excellent advice.

I've missed my numbers twice in a row... Why?

Carrsgarage, this is a long shot, but is there any chance of measurement or profile error? This is a fairly large miss, but that should at least make it easier to find the causes. Good luck. Let us know what you find. Brew on….

    Seatazz, excellent advice.

    BIAB VS All-In-One System

Riceral is giving you some sound advice. Electric brewing will give you consistency that is a little tougher to achieve on a burner. Temperature, humidity, and wind alter the boil-off rate from batch to batch. From a volume standpoint, that’s not a big deal, but when you have to add another 15...

    Saflager w-34/70 high attentuation normal?

This is an older thread, but I was also experiencing an over attenuation issue with 34/70. The problem turned out to be an incorrect yeast profile. The BeerSmith profile has a maximum attenuation of 77%. The Fermentis product data sheet indicates an apparent attenuation of 80%-84%. I created a...

8 gallon boil over in a 15 gallon kettle with Fermcap

As soon as you start to see a boil, take your power from 100% down to about 60%. If you see the foam rising too much, kill your power completely until the foam subsides. Then turn your power back on and reduce it some more. It takes a few brews to figure out the power settings that will work for...

8 gallon boil over in a 15 gallon kettle with Fermcap

If you are on electric, here are a couple of things to try. First, make sure you are in manual mode on your controller. Auto mode is for mashing. Manual is for boiling. Next, dial your power percentage back when your boil starts. Around 60% should be a good starting point. You can adjust up or...

Glycol chiller dropping tank temperature too low.

What SanPancho said. I keep my glycol 6f degrees below my target temperature. Some brewers use a 10f degree differential. Some use 15f. Experiment with different temperature settings. Brew on.

    Spike Solo Owner's Thread

Wagon 6, I don’t have an exact flow rate since I never measured it. Here’s my process: Turn off the pump. Gently mash in stirring only the top couple of inches. Cover and let the mash sit for 10 minutes. Then stir the mash just enough to loosen it up. Avoid scraping the bottom of the basket with...

    Spike Solo Owner's Thread

Matt, you are getting some real bad advice here. There a a few (very few) brewers who have trouble with the Solo. Their process is bad and they are unwilling to learn how to use this system. Almost all Solo owners have no issues. No rice hulls. No bags. No extra plumbing. No gadgets. No...

PID controllers with a serial port or WiFi ?

Ballartguy, Inkbird’s are great controllers. Tough and reliable. I use one as a backup in case my homebrew Raspberry Pi controller goes bad for some reason. Thanks for responding! Brew on.
