    $7.00* stir plate

I have a 1 Lt flask and the 1" stir bar works for me. You'd have to do some research on the difference of a 2" bar vs 1" bar- I don't know. Yeah amazon is a great place for anything! Good luck

    $7.00* stir plate

In my experience with it the fan never gets hot and I am not concerned with it burning out. It has never been warm to the touch or anything. I just used EBay to search for "magnetic stir bar".

    $7.00* stir plate

No. I cut the plug in jack from the charger and tossed it. I then stripped the wires. I cut computer fan plug in connector and discarded it. Same thing, stripped wires. Then connected positive and negative by splicing wires. I used electrical tape to secure the wires together.

    $7.00* stir plate

I ordered a 1" stir bar. I used an old cell phone charger which I believe is 12 volts. I've been using this set up without the glass just setting flask on top of fan. It still works but I'm only using a 1lt flask.

    Tightening Flip-Top Lids?

I was wondering that too. Good question. I can't figure out how to tighten or adjust the bales.

How do you "tighten" swing top bails?

I've read several threads where the suggestion was to somehow tighten the swing tip bail to increase the amount of force that is used to hold the cap in place. I recently purchased some new EZ tops which fit noticeably more loose than the original ones I had (which rusted and pitted). The...

Any new news on Home Depot Homer buckets?

I've had good luck using these http://beprepared.com/6-gallon-bucket-with-lid.html It provides enough headspace, but safer to use a blow off tube for the first few days.

    American IPA Anonymous IPA

Great recipe! Left to dry hop for 2 weeks. Kegged it and poured my first draft today. Man o man what a great IPA. Crisp and great hoppy aroma, but not overpowering. I got 1.055 OG / 1.004 FG. This one is being brewed again and will probably be on my keg for a while.

    $7.00* stir plate

    * I spent more than $7, but you can save money by just following what I did. My brewing has evolved to needing a yeast starter. The option to buy a stir plate was out of the question. Its not that I couldn't afford one. I'm just cheap. I'm also an avid DIY'r so it seemed like a simple...

Smart & Final sanitizer, anyone else use this?

The other day at Smart and Final, I was in search of a very large brew pot, when I came upon their cleaning/sanitizing solution. I was impressed at the price for a gallon of this stuff. Reading the label, I saw that it was food grade, and could safely be used in sinks, beverage dispensers, ice...
