So im pretty new to all grain brewing. When you add the water to the mash tun with the grains. Do you just add enough to get all the grains mixed up... For example: grains and water only fill up the mash tun half way, how much water do you add to mash in for the 60 mins. Fill it all the way up...

And it says to conditon for 2 to 4 weeks. But even so, i don think it should be as sweet as it was. I felt like i was drinking Kool aid.

I boiled 5 gallons and it went down to about 3.5 gallons and then added the water.

Well, i added the priming sugar solution to the bottling bucket, added the beer, than stirred gently.

So i brewed a Amber ale from midwest supplies. It turned out great. I brewed a Hop Scare IPA Kit from them. I left it for 1 week in the primary, 2 weeks in the secondary. Then bottled. Bottle Conditioned for 2 weeks. I tried the first beer today. It was so sweet. It was crazy. The gravity was...

i ended up just buying some sam adams. haha. it seemed like the smartest thing to get. Get to drink and get bottles at the same time.

So before i buy, i thought i would post it on here. But as far as 22 oz bottles go. This is the best price i could find. If anyone else has anywhere better. please let me know before i buy. http://www.freundcontainer.com/

I agree with you 100%. i have been helping my dad with extract since i was 16. (I never really did anything but help fill bottles) . But he got out of the hobby. Ever since i started telling him ive been getting into it. hes been showing and giving me all his equiptment so we can do it together...

Im ordered Palmers "How to Brew" as well.

So i have right now only brewed 2 beers. ( 1 in primary and 1 in secondary). Both Extract. Not even bottled yet. But i loved it so much i bought a complete kit to brew all grain, along with a 2 keg system, along with a grain mill, i have never even did all grain. I mean i think i might have...

Alright.. Because my first batch is almost ready to be bottled and i didnt listen and fill over the 5 gal mark, so now between transferring it from primary to secondary and secodary to bottling and taking hydrometer readings, i now only have 4 gallons. :confused:

this is a dumb question, so does that mean if you only have 4 gallons of beer to bottle to only use 4 oz of priming sugar?
