not really, for instance my fermenters get a bit of a scrub etc and i'm pretty sure that wouldn't be sanitary, also, using and storing a lot of equipment so it remained sanitary would be difficult- at least for me.
the reason why i see bottles as being different is if the beer i drank was...
i never sanitise my bottles and i never have a problem,my theory is if the beer was good out of the bottle then the beer came from an environment that suited it, i drink the beer then rinse the bottle until clean and store upside down until reuse.on bottling day the bottle gets rinsed twice with...
i use stainless kegs for fermenting so the more obvious/easier methods don't work so well when you can't see inside,i'mm now going to go and search for cheap accurate scales! preferably the luggage type so i can hang the keg from them.
cheers,
i thought so but there was doubt in my mind, any scales would be more accurate than my current method of guessing the amount of trub left in the bottom of the kettle!
i did a search for this and couldn't find anything which surprised me.
i want to accurately determine the amount of beer in my fermenter for pitching rates etc,if i know the weight of my empty fermenter and then i weigh it again with the wort in,deduct the weight of the fermenter and divide the...

its a work in progress but i've had the pids connected to a lightbulb and everything works as expected apart from the switches illuminating
ok, i just re-read yoopers post,i actually ended up with around 3/4 gallon more finished volume than intended after i added the necessary water to correct the gravity.
so is there a simple calculation i can use if/when i have the same situation arise?
i'm in the middle of brewing the best bitter recipe from brewing classic styles and my efficiency has taken a big jump, probably from the crush as the sparge was painfully slow,i've figured out the amount of water i need to add to correct the gravity but do i need to correct the hops? and if so...
