    Peanut Butter

The Apex PB flavoring linked above is what Duclaw uses for Sweet Baby Jesus. I much prefer their flavorings over most other options. Easy and works.

    BIAB vs 3 vessel setups

I couldn't imagine going back to propane after buying my Anvil Foundry. BIAB - no sparge, minimal cleanup. Not worrying about propane and all the space everything takes up. I can knock out a brew in 3.5 hours and don't have to babysit anything. I shudder looking back at missing a mash temp on...

Newbie to mead - question on yeast nutrients

Hi all - dabbling into mead making. I am following the TOSNA method for my nutrients and had a question on the calculator. This is a 1 gallon mead @ 1.088 OG. I have a question. 1. Why does it say 3.8g total nutrient needed? Where does that come from? I see 4 additions of 1g ea of Fermaid...

Has anyone tried adding peanuts in secondary to get peanut butter flavor?

Yeah their extracts are amazing. Far far from the grocery store level McCormick stuff - they're all great. It's quite the rabbit hole to go down once you see all the flavors available. I made a smore's porter once with their smore's extract. Holy moly. So good.

Has anyone tried adding peanuts in secondary to get peanut butter flavor?

It lists the dosage on the bottle and website. % of volume. So just take whatever volume you're dosing and do the math. It usually ends up at a couple teaspoons. Usually for their stuff I use the mid range of the dosage recommendation and it's almost always been perfect. This stuff is the real...

What is your cutoff time of day to start brewing?

I have a 5 almost 6 year old but I brew whenever really. Morning afternoon or night, doesn't really matter to me. During the work week if I decide to brew like yesterday I mash in around 5:30pm and am done around 9:30. I have an Anvil Foundry so most of the brew time is spent not brewing. I...

    Mashed in my BruNWater sheet

Well this has to be a first. I am brewing a blonde on my Foundry and I had wondered where my BruNWater sheet had gone earlier, figured it had blown away. Welp, it got mashed in for an hour @ 150. Just want to make it's OK to continue making this beer - it was color ink by the way. Thanks -...

    Most overrated beer

Dark Lord. 3 Floyds cashed in to the max during the heyday of craft beer becoming cool and let's go stand in the rain all day for this mediocre imperial stout and pay an outrageous price for the privilege.

What are the best Cincinnati breweries?

While Listermann is my LHBS, I have lived here all my life and beg to differ on the "everything in between" portion. Of the approx 15 taps, usually about 7 are NEIPAs, 4-5 are some kind of ridiculous diabetes pastry stout, 1-2 fake kettle sours and 1-2 normal beers. They're a "whatever is the...

@CJnCincy @blk84 Homebrewers from my neck of the woods, nice! I feel it is only necessary that we all meet up and share homebrew/brew, you know, for science and all.

    Using Oreos

I would recommend Apex extracts to get the flavors you're looking for. All of the flavor, none of the downsides. https://www.apexflavors.com/Beverage-Industry/Craft-Brewing Dumping Oreos, Skittles, Fruity Pebbles into beer is a fun story to tell, but when you end up with 5 gallons of crap, the...
