I used the mangrove Jack's yeasts exclusively last summer and they were all solid performers. I think my favorite was the West Coast Ale and the Barvarian wheat was a close second. Cost, quality, and a large temp range make it unbeatable in my book. Sent from my iPad using Home Brew

Converting an ale into a lager

Good morning all! I was wondering if anybody has any info on converting an ale recipe to a lager? My buds and I made a brown ale that was outta this world and we would like to brew it as a lager. Concerns include higher attenuation (Nottingham ale vs white labs 840) and dryness.

The hand pump is about ten to twelve bucks. The 16g carts are 1-2 bucks each and it takes about 4-5 to push out a whole corny. Well worth the investment.

We just use ice a picnic tap and the co2 carts. If its still this cold tomorrow cold beer shouldn't be much of a problem. The next DIY around our group will probably be a jockey box.

Right now we have three different styles to try, a black pale ale, a hefewizen, and an alt. They're all, all grain and very refreshing after an hour or so lugging sacks around. Let me or...

    Decanting yeast starter

I was also thinking osmotic stress gave your yeasts too much stress. I usually do starters with an OG of about 1.030 or 150g DME in 1.5L.
