60qt. Ice Cube Mash Tun Build - $cheap and simple

I have one of these that I use with a C-PVC manifold. I only leave big one a pint or two or liquid. I drilled a hole in the front of the cooler for my ball valve. The siphon from the attached hose will drain it down to the bottom of the cooler. Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

60qt. Ice Cube Mash Tun Build - $cheap and simple

Save yourself the money and trouble and just build a cpvc manifold. I have one in my cube and it works great. I never get any grain bits in the kettle. Mine has 4 rows. Joined together on the ends with hacksaw blade slits halfway through the cpvc (facing down). The pick up tube comes from...

Flat bottomed alternatives to Erlenmeyer Flasks?

I use a stainless steel soup pot. It works with my stirbar and holds a couple of gallons. Try a restaurant supply to find one.

Switched from droid to iPhone - need app advice

I've used Brewpal and Beer Alchemy. Beer Alchemy is more of a full blown app, but Brewpal is what I use on brew day. There are several in the App Store that also look interesting - iBrewMaster2 for example. It kind of depends on how you want to use them.

How big or small a mash tun?

A 15 Igloo Cube works quite well for various size mashes as well. Search on here and will find some details on the build. I used a cpvc manifold in mine and never have had a stuck sparge.

Looking for feedback on my water report

I've downloaded the EZ Water spreadsheet and plugged my numbers and a couple of recipes into it, both light and dark beers. If I add sauermalz (and lactic acid when needed after I've already added 2% sauermalz) I can get the predicted mash pH down to acceptable levels. Is this a viable...

Looking for feedback on my water report

I just received my Wards water report yesterday and would like to get some educated feedback. I've read the Brewing Water Chemistry Primer but I'm not sure if I need to dilute with R/O water or not. Hopefully the formatting comes OK. Thanks in advance. pH 8.0 TDS. 417...

PVC pipe glue for bucket repair?

JB Water Weld will do what you want. It's NSF approved (food safe) and good to something like 250 degrees. Home Depot carries it.

Brew Pal software in the iTunes App Store

There is now, if you use the iCloud. Just get the latest update to BrewPal. It's in the BrewPal settings in the app to use iCloud. I just did this a few days ago and now all my recipes are on my iPhone and iPad. It doesn't show any current status for batches you may be brewing on both of them...

    Starsan Bottle Issue

That's happened to me on probably my last three bottles. I determined you can't tighten the cap on the portioning side too tight. Of course after you so it's too late. I took some Saran Wrap and folded it into a small square with about 6 - 8 layers and put it over the top and put the...

    Patching Mash Tun

Check out JB Waterweld. It's NFS approved for food contact and will handle temps higher than mash temps. You can find it at Home Depot.

    Kal Clone Porn

HappyLoon - do you ever go to Mort's or high Five (used to be Primetime) and play Foos? Check out minnesotafoosball.com sometime. A few of us are home brewers too. I'm gatekeeper on that site. Happy brewing!

    Kal Clone Porn

Hey HappyLoon - nice Foos table! From the looks of the rubber bands on the men it looks like you even practice. Are you in MN by any chance? Nice brewery too. That's what I hope to end up with.
