    AHA Surly Wort Rally

After a week in the keg, this came out quite tasty, albeit cloudy as hell. Anyone else package theirs yet?

    AHA Surly Wort Rally

I ended up pitching a second starter because I thought it stalled out, 1.5 L of 3711 at high krausen. Did that on Saturday. It's down to 1.010 now... so I kegged it.

    AHA Surly Wort Rally

I pitched a 1L starter of 3711 French Saison. Looks like fermentation quit so I took a gravity reading today, only down to 1.032. Anyone else having issues?

    AHA Surly Wort Rally

The guy filling my keg said it was 1.067 OG. I measured 1.062 on my refractometer though FWIW.

Huh I was hoping for something less weird than last time

If it's anything like last time, BSG will be donating the ingredients to make the wort, so it's unlikely to have a ton of (expensive) hops in it.

I believe it was 98% Golden Promise, 2% Dingeman Aromatic. Bittered with Mandarina Bavarian. Titrated down to around 3.8 pH with citric acid, then down to 3.2 via lacto. This is all from memory when I asked Todd about it while he was filling my keg.

    AHA Surly Wort Rally

I sampled mine after 24 hours at 40 PSI and it was face melting tart. 24 more hours on the gas and it has greatly mellowed. Now it's a clean and lightly tart saison. Reminds me a lot of Boulevard's Brett Saison, I just used 3711 though.

    AHA Surly Wort Rally

3711 brought mine down to 1.006. I'll probably keg it in a couple days. Hydrometer sample tasted pretty good. It was tart but not too bad.

    AHA Surly Wort Rally

I tasted the wort before pitching and it reminded me of some sort of meat. Then the fermentation stunk up my house pretty weird. Not expecting much from this beer.

    Stc-1000+

Thanks, glad to hear I didn't kill my STC. I cancelled the order for a new one and ordered an arduino uno instead.

    Stc-1000+

I have an arduino duemilanove with an ATMEGA168 chip (only 14KB flash available), any advice on what to trim out of the program to lower the size? I tried flashing last night commenting out the celsius data and a bunch of the upper portion of the fahrenheit data (since I won't ever set it above...

new Northern Brewer catalog. megapot 1.2

I noticed on the user reviews for the ball valve on the NB site that if you follow the instructions you end up with broken o-rings. One reviewer suggested the following order for installing the ball valve: ball valve assembly, washer, kettle, o-ring, locknut. I did that and it worked for me. No...

new Northern Brewer catalog. megapot 1.2

I just picked up a 10 gal (with fittings) from the St. Paul store. No dents on my copy. Attached some pics of the graduations for those interested. I think it's some sort of chemical etching. There's no texture to it so I'm pretty sure it's not ink. She's a sexy beast though. *Darkness...
