I've been getting used to mash temperatures for my last few brews, which means getting pointlessly stressed out for no reason, of course. I got an extract+steeping grains kit for Christmas, looking forward to a short, simple brew day once a primary opens up.
Brewed a partial mash version of this today,
16 oz of Carafa
16 oz Caramel 60L
3.5 lb of 2 row
6.5 lb of light dry extract
Hop schedule was the same
Using Safale-5
Seems to be quite good so far, I'll report back when I bottle.
Stuff I have planned to brew before Spring rolls around and ruins brewing season for me:
Black IIPA
Amber Ale Kit I got for Christmas
Apollo IPA (May make this one a SMaSH)
Punkin Ale
Stuff I'm pondering:
A Mad Elf clone in in early March, so it can age until winter
A Hefeweizen in early...
The price on your link for me is $48--do you have an online coupon or something that reduces the price to $40? I'm looking to pick this up myself in about 10 minutes, hopefully I can save a few bucks that can go into grain instead. :)
I can understand wanting your own beginner thread to ask a question and follow up with other questions. People want a personal place to discuss their situation, just in case their situation is somehow (albeit unlikely) unique; I can also understand old pros who have been here for years getting...
I once left a beer in primary for two months when I couldn't find time/motivation to put it in bottles. Turned out great; I'm actually sharing the last four bottles with a friend this weekend, which is saying a lot since I'm nervous about giving funky homebrew to people.
The same happened...
I mean this in a broad sense for any and all forums, not just "crushed grain longevity" questions.
If you're actually going to take the time to click on an easy thread and respond to it, then provide a link to a relevant article or wiki page. "Google it plz" responses are very frustrating to...
You know I love when I search a question on google and the first dozen results are responses like this one where the responder tells me to go google what I'm googling. I thank people like you, Nateo for making my life a little more difficult.
Yeah, 1030 was lower than I expected. I got all of the extract into the pot though. Again, I'm doing a ~2.5 gallon batch, so this isn't a simple double equation.
Anyway, for less than 8 dollars or so for this batch of beer, I'm happy with anything that has alcohol content and is drinkable.
I brewed up Canadian Draught last night. Skipped the booster, did two of the same can and boiled it for 20 minutes to up the bitterness, added some leftover noble hops for a little more flavor. The cans were enough for four gallons but I put it all in a little less than 2 1/2 gallons. I wound...
