I was just in Reno, NV for the weekend and went to "Brew Brothers". Their beers were gross. I honestly would rather drink BMC. I tried their IPA, amber, stout, and kolsch btw.
I buy and sell on CL regularly. My best flip was a '73 AMC Hornet wagon I bought for $700, drove for a year, and sold for $2300.
As far as beer deals go, I've come across some decent ones but never pulled the trigger. I generally end up buying new in the store with the difference in price...
I was in the supermarket yesterday, they had Brooklyn Brewery IPA kits for sale in the beer section. $39.99 bought you a 1 gallon carboy, airlock, capper, caps, sugar, and an extract IPA kit.

Two bombers of arrogant bastard and some new belgiums my roommate forgot about in an unplugged mini fridge for two years. He decided to throw them away because "they are flat and moldy by now" and I almost punched him. Delicious.
I cant decide if I love it or hate it, but Marin Platypus Venom is one serious brew. Its an imperial stout with the mouthfeel and taste of anise cough syrup. It has an intriguing flavor complex, but its incredibly difficult to drink.
I don't think I'm really into my equipment for much money at this point, I'm guessing <$1000. Most everything I got for free, as gifts, or made myself. I'm also all about buying stuff on sale, even if I don't "need" it.
Things I've bought:
5 gal glass carboy $30
6 gal better bottle $25
2 cornys...
