Belgian Red with WLP550 and WLP570

Have some older vials of WLP550 and WLP570 kicking around and was thinking of doing a Belgian Red Ale. Neither is really all that viable alone without making a HUGE starter but according to Beersmith's calculations I should be able to get enough viable cells if I use both vials together in a...

Belgian Dark Strong Ale - Suggestions?

Thanks for the replies. I'm going to re-work the recipe to reduce the Munich malt and amp up the sugar. Have only done single step mashes up till now, but no better time than the present to learn to do a multi-step.

    Kegerator Build

A couple more pics of this weeks progress. Top done and tower built. Just need to poly the tower, add the insulation, and connect up the re-circulating fan for tower cooling. Then the final plumbing connections for the faucets.

    Kegerator Build

Just ran it empty. Currently have no homebrew goodness ready to put into a keg. :( Empty the compressor barely gets warm to the touch, no different than when it didn't have the plywood affixed to the sides. Likely it will run a bit warmer once it has a real load in it. Could always install a...

    Kegerator Build

No hot side coils in the rear. Ran it for a couple of days without issues, the thermal sensor on the compressor didn't kick off once, compressor was no hotter than normal. The unit didn't generate a lot of heat to begin with. Brought the whole unit down to 32°F just to see if I could. If there...

    Kegerator Build

Thank you, I have pulled some ideas from different keezer/kegerator builds seen on this forum and tossed in a few of my own.

    Kegerator Build

And a few more... I plan on putting together a blog post on the complete build when the project is done and I have a couple of kegs of homebrew inside it. Just have to finish the top and tower.

Looking for advice, Mint Chocolate Milk Stout

Currently have a basic milk Stout in the primary and am planning on adding 1/2 Cup Dutch process cocoa, 4oz cocoa nibs, and 4oz mint leaves into the secondary. Mint leaves have been soaking in Vodka to sanitize and I plan on doing the same with the nibs. Unsure about the qty of mint. I am...

    Honey Amber Ale Recipe

This was my first attempt at an all-grain ale. I was rather pleased with the outcome as I have only ever brewed from kits using extracts. Next I am going to try to put together an all-grain holiday ale to share with the family. Here is the recipe I built using Brewtarget Honey Amber...

    Greetings From Michigan

That sounds really interesting. I'll have to stop by there next time I'm in the area and give it a try.

    Greetings From Michigan

Just put my first batch of homebrew into bottles (Dunkelweizen!) Can't wait to drink the first bottle. Found the recipe for Chocolate Coated Beavr Nutz on the forum and am itching to get another batch going, it will be my first attempt at all grain. Was thinking about priming this one with honey...
