Pulled a total rookie mistake...need advice

I got a used conical and used it for the first time recently. Beer had fermented out and had a blowoff tube in a bucket of StarSan, about half a gallon of sanitizer. I opened the bottom value to dump the trub and forgot to removed the blowoff tube from the StarSan. Yup, I created a vacuum and...

    Sweet extract beer

Poor fermentation can leave it sweet. Make sure you measure your gravities and hit your numbers to be sure.

Blonde Ale Centennial Blonde (Simple 4% All Grain, 5 & 10 Gall)

I just brewed this up and hopped it with just picked Cascade wet hops right off the bines! We will see!

    Summit/Chinook IIPA?

P.s. that's also a super hoppy beer you have laid out there! 132 is getting up there!

    Summit/Chinook IIPA?

The substitute for Summit is Amarillo or Cascade. I have read about garlic/onion smells but it doesn't appear to carry over to the beer. Using them only for bittering and a different hop for aroma and taste should also alleviate this problem if your worried. Swap that Summit at 30mins with...

Blonde Ale Centennial Blonde (Simple 4% All Grain, 5 & 10 Gall)

Its a specialty grain, you do not mash it nor convert the starches. It is for body and mouthfeel. http://byo.com/stories/wizard/article/section/121-mr-wizard/1619-what-is-carapils-and-what-are-those-other-qcaraq-malts

    Hop garden and trellis

The area gets 6-8 hours of full sun, plenty for hops. The posts are 12' and about as high as I wanted them to go. I am doing this more for fun than displacing the need to buy hops. I am hoping at the end of the season I have enough for a nice 10 gallon batch of wet hop ale. The newspaper will...

    Anyone see or use this?

Might be worth the drive to Hamburg where my local Cabelas is located to take a loo. Always like a good excuse to go there!

    Anyone see or use this?

Yeah pretty much. I was thinking I already have a stand alone burner that I could put next to the whole set up and pump the wort from the MT to the BK. I just dont have the means to weld so I thought this might be a lazy way to pull it all together!

Looks like a simple set up for heating a HLT and mash tun. Any thoughts...

    Hop garden and trellis

Built a small hop garden and trellis this weekend. Turned out pretty good! What do you think: http://beerdossier.blogspot.com/

Hop Rhizomes...What should I carry at my garden center?

Can't go wrong with the American C hops varieties to start. Cascade, Chinook, Centennial, Columbus! Should all grow well in your area. Should be good sellers also based on their popularity for use in ales for both bittering and flavor/aroma.
