    Imperial Pilsner

I can see your point. It is like a hoppy maibock. I bought the Costco beer advents calendar and cracked it open early. There was one in the calendar. I also had another one recently. I like them I just don’t see how it’s a style when I think it can be on the fringes of other styles. Either...

    Imperial Pilsner

I’ve had a couple beers lately billed as imperia pilsners. These seem to be no more than a less minerally dortmunder or a maibock change my mind….

    What are you drinking now?

Left over party beer. Riverwest Stein, spotted cow, and an assortment of rogue brewing beers. My helles won’t be ready for another two weeks.

    So who's brewing this weekend?

I am brewing a blonde today with homegrown hops going in at flameout. First year yield wasn’t big but hopefully they add something to the beer.

    Warpigs Salmon Pants Lager

So I’m drinking salmon pants for the second time. Bought it when it first came out but didn’t appreciate it as much as I do now. Very good beer imo. I’m trying to figure out the recipe they use to make it specifically the yeast. Another website says this is made with saaz as the hops but there...

    What are you drinking now?

Just tapped what I call an American strong bitter. It’s in the style of an esb but I used a local maltster for the base malt. Willamette and palisade for the hops. Not what I expected but it grows one you after a few.

    A Brewing Water Chemistry Primer

Dortmunder gold is one of my favorites too. There is also a brewery in nowheresville wi called manitowish brewing that does one that was great as well. Way out of the way even for the state residents though. I appreciate the water profile. I was specifically thinking about how to adopt the...

    A Brewing Water Chemistry Primer

I am curious about this as well. I understand the concepts but would like to know what minerals to use in instances such as this particularly because I am brewing a dortmunder soon. Thanks

    Yeast starter temperature

Thanks I will look into that. I have been generally using 2 L starters according to John palmers book. They work I have never missed the temp before. This all depends on the style lagers I use 3 L. Or I’ll use two packs of dry for ale.

    Yeast starter temperature

Thanks. I do usually decant my starter. This is the first time I’ve not started at recommended pitching temp. I am trying the snpa clone so I want it to turn out right.

    Yeast starter temperature

Hello. Posted a few times here. I have a question. I have a yeast starter made with dme and 1056. I let the wort cool but my thermometer was off so I probably pitched the yeast at around 78*. How will this effect my starter? Thanks in advance.
