    Thanks both very much. I've tracked down DME online,7 though only in 25kg bags, so I'll ask a bakery. They also sell 1kg batches of Maltodextrin. Any use for anything?

    First time brewer here. It says "for best results" to add these but are they necessary? Its not clear. I think I could use sugar for the dextrose/sucrose, but the DME? I'm abroad so these things are tricky to get - I'm kicking myself for not getting when in UK! Thanks!
