Magnum on the left which didn't start growing until about 2-3 weeks after the Cascade on the right. Have a few burrs at the top of the Cascade. Both are first year plants. I'm so excited and anxious!
Tried it last night and it worked pretty good, I stopped it too early though. The instructional video said to go 40 minutes or until the carbonation wasn't visible. That happened after about 20 minutes or so and I disconnected the system and tried the beer. It was close maybe 70-80% carbonated...
Top picture is my cascade and bottom is magnum. I was late planting them so they are only about 5 weeks old. I hope I get at least an oz of hops to use. No cones forming just yet at least from what I can see.
So I took your advice and only used a small amount of what I harvested and I started with an 800 ml starter. As you can see from the first picture it is definitely still viable, and the second picture shows there is a small amount of slurry on the bottom. I think I will chill and decant and...
I have a Mason jar of yeast I harvested over a year ago. I want to use it again but I'm unsure if it is still good. I'm thinking about making a starter with it. Am I correct to assume that if it propagates and there are no foul smells that the yeast is good to go? Thanks for any insight...
When I first brewed this recipe about 2 years ago I did half strawberry and I left half without and they both were great. Once the strawberry reaches the "sweet" spot it tastes so good!
Ahh I didn't even realize they were pin locks, I'm just starting to get into kegging so I'm not really up on prices. I just know I've seen 2 keg kits for like $200. I don't have a kegerator yet, I'll probably make one out of an old mini fridge.
Thanks for the responses guys, I think I'm going...
I saw this :

And was wondering if anyone has ever ordered from here before because this price seems too good to be true.
I bottled this about 3 weeks ago, but when I pour it into a glass there is no head. It tastes good and has good carbonation but no head. What could be the cause for this?

I just made a 1 gallon batch of this today and I can't wait for it to be done. This is my first mead so I hope it turns out good. From what I've read throughout the thread I think it will be great. My OG is 1.099 and I used the EC-1118 called for in the recipe, so I'll probably check on it in...
I think I may invest in one, @ $15 a pop the hydrometers are getting expensive and they are way too fragile for me it seems.
