    Sour Belgian Red critique

I'm thinking of doing a pseudo Flanders Red, with a kettle sour instead of doing long term aging. I don't really care if it's true to style, but just looking for something a little different than a regular Saison. Looking for some feedback since I've never done anything quite like this before...

Adding sugar / wort to sour secondary?

Thanks, I ended up just leaving it as is since I don't have much headspace available. I was planning on waiting a few months to taste it anyway, so if it's not starting to sour by then I'll think about blending in some new wort. FWIW, the starter I made with the Melange smelled incredible.

Adding sugar / wort to sour secondary?

Edit: My apologies, I just realized I posted this to the recipes section. Please move or delete if needed. Hi everyone, Been a long time since I logged in, life got in the way and I gave up brewing for a few years. I'm back at it now and after a couple basic IPA's to get back in the swing...

    Show us your other obsession(s)...

I'm a gun nut. Here's my 3-gun competition gear. Unfortunately I haven't been able to hit any matches yet this year. Starting to get into NFA stuff. 300 Blackout 10" SBR. Waiting for stamps on a couple of suppressors: My daughter likes the SBR also, but with a CMMG dedicated...

    Bochet Cyser (with video)

OK, I'm intrigued by the serrano pepper mead. I'm interested to hear how that turns out.

Poindexter, don't you know that deer are much tougher than they were a century ago? Nowadays a .300 Win Mag is underkill. Or at least that's what internet commandos would have you believe. Shot placement is much more important than caliber, IMO.

Hey Waboom, I don't see a Lee-Enfield in that collection...you have a lot of military surplus rifles, you should get a L-E to round it out. Mine is one of my favorite rifles. Anyone here have a Finnish Mosin? The Finns captured a bunch of Mosin Nagant rifles from Russia when they declared...

Evil (and possibly also "mad") Scientist plans

I have a DesquirrelinATOR to rid my back yard of those pesky tree rats! Oh yeah, and also to Rule the World! Is it bad that my favorite show was intended for my 5 year old daughter's demographic?

How to Roast a Whole Pig

Well, all pigs have some hair. Not a lot, but it's there. I'm guessing the guy you get it from boils the hair off. Not real practical if you're going to butcher it yourself. Maybe it could be singed off ahead of time over an open fire?

How to Roast a Whole Pig

I see the pig you cooked has had the hair removed....do you buy it that way? My parents are farmers and even though they don't raise pigs any more, they have neighbors that do. We could get a pig from a neighbor and gut it ourselves, but not sure how to go about removing the hair. Would it be...

    Firearms

I moved in October and haven't had a chance to brew since then, so I've been away from HBT for a long time. Since then I acquired a new Savage 12FV in .223. Check out what it can do - 5 shots at 100 meters just over 1/2 inch. This is where you get the real benefit of reloading: :rockin:

    Firearms

Good choice on the 45-70. Now, if you really want to have some fun, cast some 500 grain bullets and load it full of real black powder. That's what the cartridge was originally designed for.
