Sour Cherry Wheat (Fast and Fake Kriek)

FYI - When I used the crockpot I filled up two growlers with wort, almost like doing a yeast starter, and then pitched some milled grain from my grain bill that was not part of the mash for the lacto to take off. I cooled the wort to 100, filled the growlers and placed them in the crockpot...

Sour Cherry Wheat (Fast and Fake Kriek)

I made it. Turned out awesome. After reading other posts I just harvested lactobacillus from grain. I steeped the 3 lbs, got a gallon of wort cooled to 100 and pitched grain into it. Kept it at 100 with a crockpot.

Lactobacillus starter help Milled vs Unmilled grain

I went ahead and used the milled and have two growlers in a crockpot water holding about 110 degrees f. One has a thin film on top and the other has more of a chunky layer. All the pictures I've seen make me think something is wrong with the chunky one., but both smell the same, sort of...

    Iso supplication / consecration

I did buy it at the brewery this year. It was 19/4 pk and required a 5 dollar ticket be purchased in the name of the purchaser prior to the release, which allowed the person named on the ticket to buy 2 four packs. They actually did a good job with it this year having several keg tappings in...

I was saying that I knew The RR sours were $13 at the RR brew pub and that two KBS were only around $11

Yeah I know at the brewery they're about $13 each so $4$ at 2 to 1 I'd be slightly light. Funny thing is, I've had each once before and it was great, but what I really want it for now is the dregs

    Hopslam still available in stores?

DRIPA is Michigans version of Pliny... I prefer it to Pliny. I have 9 Hopslams still in my fridge... I will have to drink them eventually. No more hopslam cases for me.

Lactobacillus starter help Milled vs Unmilled grain

I didn't see any reference to it is all. I don't think milled grain should make a difference but then again, its my first attempt. I didn't even consider this until today, when I was planning on buying lacto from the LHBS but they didn't have any. I ended up with WYEAST roeslare but don't...

Lactobacillus starter help Milled vs Unmilled grain

After reading several forums, I plan on making a lacto starter using some mashed Belgian pils. I want to basically Mash, boil and toss in the grain to propagate the lacto with a growler / crockpot as described in many other threads. Everything Ive read refers to tossing in UNMILLED grain - mine...

Sour Cherry Wheat (Fast and Fake Kriek)

So, I read this last night and really wanted to try it, seemed like a good intro to sours which I would like to jump into. My LHBS did not have WYEAST 5335 however. Only option with Lacto was WYEAST Roeselar 3763 which includes lacto, brett and yeast. Will this still work to sour the 3 lbs of...
