I am fairly new to homebrewing, and I have just a basic set up. What exactly is the advantage of your setup. What does it do? And how does it work?

HLT at the top, mash tun in the middle, kettle at the bottom, all gravity fed. This type of system is a good bang for the buck for a versatile all-grain system (I like things to be linear). Sure, it has it's advantages and disadvantages. This allows me to mash any way I want (infusion, step, decoction), direct-fire mash-out, and fly-sparge. I fly-sparge 14.5 gallons into the kettle in 30 minutes and still get high efficiency.
Some of the reasons I built this are that I didn't want to pay for costly March pumps (yet), I don't feel comfortable mashing (cooking) in a plastic (petroleum product) cooler, and I knew it would be versatile enough to make any beer style I want.
