Yes, another Pliny clone question

I am giving the Pliny clone extract kit from MoreBeer a try this weekend. It says to immediately steep the grain and first hops and remove at 170. Whats the difference between that and bringing the temp up, flaming out, and steeping for 20 minutes or so? Just wondering...

Probably not much difference. Steeping grains are really just for flavor.
