I have a starter of WLP545 going (and soon to be pitched) my question is how does the aroma of the starter translate to finished beer.
If it smells like it does now I would pitch it down the drain.
I have a starter of wlp500 also going but it was old and I didn't think it took off so I saw the 545 and figured I would give it a shot.
From what I've read it's a fruity yeast and all the starter smells like is old bread.
The starter for the 500 smells just like I would expect, somewhat banana, light spice.
Should I just pitch this thing down the drain and go grab a new vial of 500?

Never tried the 545 before (Or used the 500,I generally use 530) so I don't know what to expect.

Does anyone have experience with the 545 ?
It's going in a Dubbel.

assuming this is a starter from a fresh vial, i wouldn't worry about how it smells.

the yeast concentration is starters is often incredibly high and they tend to be fermented warm. they can smell, well, very very yeasty. which can stink.

It's within it's date but near the end,oct 12...
Not very large starter either,1200 ml.
