I am starting to collect yeast for a 'Yeast Bank'. One way I have been collecting strains is by pouring some starter wort into freshly emptied WL vials. I have been dumping the vials out into an appropriate starter, then topping them off with some starter wort and LOOSELY cap or top with foil. then after a few days I swirl and dump the vial into a beer bottle with more wort in it. I plan on stepping up these starters until they reach the 1 gal size, then splitting up the yeast slurry and freezing with glycerine.
My question is :
I have two strains in my 'beer bottle phase' which have been sitting untouched for about 5-6 weeks (lazy). Am I good to step these up to a 1-Liter starter size and continue growing up these yeasties? The strains are Bohemian Pilsner & German Lager X.
Thanks!
