When to feed fermenting beer dextrose?

I've heard you should wait until fermentation has started to slow and others say to add it at the highest point. I didn't add during the boil because I didn't want the yeast to get lazy and not eat all of the malt fermentables. Its a heady style dipa. Calls for 12oz
 
Well I boiled a quart of water and dumped the dex in. Chilled it and dumped that in at high kreusen today. Don't worry I accounted for the extra quart and sugar in my OG.
