No question; just a report and a request for stories, feedback, lore, etc of West Yorkshire Ale Yeast, WY 1469.
Have been having some fun with West Yorkshire Ale, 1469. This is my first time using a yeast for more than just 2 generations or so.
Currently on generation 6. Top cropped each time.
1) Original use Innkeeper (Northern Brewer Kit; this stuff is really good)
2) Oatmeal stout
3) Edmund Fitz Porter Clone (from HBT, damn good "Wow, this is really good; I didn't know dark beer could be good" from the Miller Lite drinkers)
4) Yoeman Special Bitter (from HBT)
(Fermented a cider here with some; but I did not top crop and save so I don't count it as a generation. It did not turn out all that good.)
5) Edmund Fitz Porter clone (repeat - like I said, damn good)
6) English IPA - Been fermenting since Saturday. I'm a bit worried about this one given the somewhat lower attenuation than Chico, which I usually use for IPAs. I threw in a bit a simple sugar, which I don't normally use in IPAs, to try to dry it out some. After 4 days, we're at 1.21 gravity, from 1.063.
Anyone use 1469 for an English IPA? Thoughts?
I expect to keep rolling with the same 1469 for the foreseeable future. Any advice?
Thanks!
