I did a starter from a washed batch of 1332. The yeast in the starter didn't smell off to me but after I pitched the flask had a saison type smell to it. The beer has been fermenting for 4days now and still going strong and haven't noticed any off smells from the actual beer. When I went to change out the blow off buckets sanitizer, because it was mostly yeast at this point, I noticed the same smell. What could it be?

I have used other batches of this washed yeast and can't say I've noticed that smell but this is the first time I cold crashed my starter so maybe that was it?

It is the yeast. I recently bottled a Caribou Slobber. When I poured out the yeast for harvesting I thought it was infected, dead and rotting.
It wasn't. The Slobber had tasted perfectly fine.
