Hello All,

Just thought I would pass this information along. About 6 months ago I brewed a lambic using aged hops and did not have any nylon hop bags on hand to use for the boil. Instead I found some new Trimaco brand paint strainer bags in the garage and decided to use those.

I used them before checking on the safety of the product and after much gleaning on the forums it seemed that no one had any issues using paint strainer bags in their brew.

I decided to email the local Trimaco Sales Rep to get some answers. He forwarded my email to corporate and this is the response I got.

"The strainers are made in China of polyester (PET). We have a test report showing it passed at 212 degrees F."

Looks like the bags are made of the same stuff as plastic bottles. Made in China does'nt give me much comfort though.
