I found an old can of Pilsen extract with a use best buy date of 2010. I know this would be worthless for brewing a batch of beer but does anyone think I could use this for making a large batch of yeast starter?

Thanks

I would definitely smell it before using, just in case.
Since you're boiling it, and flavor is not a concern, I don't see why the sugars wouldn't work for starters.

I have something much older that I am not squeamish about using for that purpose. I expect the boil to keep me safe.
