When I first started brewing a year ago, I got a screaming deal on a turkey fryer (burner and 30 qt kettle) on Craigslist. Now I want to upgrade to a larger kettle, but wondering if I can use the same burner?
My current burner has a ring (diameter ~14") that the kettle fits inside of to make it more stable. Most of the 15-20 gallon kettles I am looking at have a larger diameter. In this case the kettle would rest on top the ring, instead of inside it.
Has anyone done this? Is stability an issue? Just don't want 8 gal of boiling liquid to spill and seriously hurt someone.
