Thermo Insulation

I'm contemplating an electric brew stand using t-slot aluminum framing (80/20)

The aluminum can handle the heat, but do most people put some sort of thermo insulation...like bricks or something, between their stand and the boil kettle? I'd think the stand would act as a big heat sink sucking heat away. Or does the heat mostly stay with the liquid? I don't have any experience with this.

Heat losses to the stand will be insignificant.

Not aware of any insulation being used on brew stands, but a wind-shield panel around the burner and kettle can be helpful when brewing outdoors.

If you are going electric then all you need is something capable of withstanding 212 deg. I have my BK sitting on a plywood base and have had no problems.
