i tried to brew a 1.5 gallon biab batch in my 64 qt. kettle using just under 4 lbs of grain.
i will never attempt this insanity again. 3.5 gallon batches FOREVER.
because the grain was just barely submerged, it was absolute hell trying to keep a constant mash temp. first it was too hot, then it was too cold. i used my burner, i used hot water, i used cold water. i cursed at it. at one point the center came to a light boil. ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRG!
well, i somehow got a 68 percent efficiency out of it so i guess it could have been worse. we'll see what the tannin situation is like. i had to keep stirring the mash to move the hot spots.
it's only my second brew. live and learn. that is all.
