The bag contained the overflow of yeast and the wife's emotions about a mess in her spare bedroom! My question is can I keep the yeast that spilled into the overflow bag?ImageUploadedByHome Brew1394057507.823896.jpg

I wouldn't keep it. Might have gotten a bug from the bag or from the air. If you want to keep the krausen down in the future get some ferm-cap. A drop or 2 should solve that problem.

I wouldn't and use fermcap next time.
This is what a starter looks like at full krausen with fermcap

Seems a shame to toss it! But I suppose it would be an even bigger shame to have 5 gallons of beer go raunchy! What is fermcap?

Oh nice! Great pic too! And that stuff is cheap! I'll check my LHBS first just to support the biz.
