Can one use a "plate stirrer" and a stir bar in a keggle with 10 gallons of beer to create a small current (weak whirlpool) to improve IC performance?
I have seen this talked about a little, but I have not seen anyone that has successfully done this.
The SS keggle does not interfere. I used my friend's good (can't remember the brand) plate stirrer and a small stir bar on an empty keggle and the thing spun fine.
I will be using a DIY stirrer. I can always change my stirrer specs for bigger stir bars.
The question: What size bar should I use for 10 gallons of wort in a keggle? I don't want a vortex, just a small current to aid cooling and trub cone formation.
