I am going to do a Stone IPA Clone recipe (BYO). The recipe calls for 15 SRM crystal. Beersmith gives you a choice between 10 SRM and 20 SRM.

My question is "when trying to adjust beer color to match Stone's published stats, is it better to use a larger quantity of 10 SRM crystal or a lesser amount of 20 SRM?"

The stone IPA clone has about 6% crystal, the color difference between using 15L and and 10 or 20L crystal would be about 0.5 SRM in the finished beer. I would use either as a sub but in the same amount the recipe calls for. I think its more important to the beer to keep the crystal percentage the same than it is to worry about being off a half SRM. If you can actually find 15L crystal just add it into Beersmith, I took the parameters for 10L and just changed the lovibond.
