The Weyermann says that it's gluten free. Does anyone know anything about this or have any experience? Is the gluten actually being removed in the process somehow or is it just reduced below european guidelines and able to be called gluten free.

No idea but, good luck getting it. I could not find a source. I doubt it would be considered gluten free by US standards but, it probably is gluten reduced.

I would be interested to know if you can get some.

Yeah, I was thinking about using it to darken a regular beer and was shocked to see it listed as gluten free.

Apparently the European labeling laws state that gluten free labeled products must contain less than 20 mg/kg (I have a friend that is gluten sensitive that travels to Europe a lot, she pointed me to the link below).

It is derived from barley malt. Therefore, not gluten free. I am sure it is close. If you are very sensitive, I wouldn't use it.
