I picked up a 55 lb sack of mo for $40 and ill split it with a member of my homebrew club.

I haven't used it before so I wanted to see if anyone would share their favorite recipes with mo. Can be any style, Im not a fan of smash brews a whole lot, tho.

This might make you a pretty good robust chocolate porter.

% lbs. Malt Mash time Color PPG Pts
63% 8.00 lbs Maris Otter 60 min 3°L 38.0 43.43
10% 1.25 lbs British Crystal 50/60 60 min 55°L 34.0 6.07
9% 1.13 lbs Munich 10L (Briess) 60 min 9°L 37.0 5.95
6% 12.00 oz Belgian Biscuit Malt 60 min 23°L 36.0 3.86
5% 10.00 oz British Chocolate 60 min 350°L 30.0 2.68
5% 10.00 oz Belgian Special B 60 min 220°L 30.0 2.68
2% 4.00 oz Black Patent 60 min 525°L 27.0 0.96

Pair that up with hop additions of 1.25 oz Northern Brewer at 60 min and 1 oz. Goldings at 1 min and ferment it at 68 degrees F with Wyeast 1028 and tell me that's not a chocolate porter.

Hey Brewmex, I used to live in Camas and was a member of the SW Washington Homebrew gang, formerly Plato's Republic. It's where I learned to brew! You are in a good spot of the world for brewing!

Enough grain to get you to 1.040 (about 9 lbs for a 5-gallon batch), mashed at 149 for 60 mins, and add maybe .60 of Centennial (or whatever leftover hops you have lying around) at 60 minutes, ferment with a neutral, clean ale yeast. It's an awesome lawnmower beer.
