Which has a higher serving pressure, a porter or an ale? I will soon have both on tap. I need to even the pressure by extending one of the lines. I just dont known which one.
Could you elaborate about "I need to even the pressure by extending one of the lines."?
"Ales" allows for a pretty wide range of carbonation levels, but most styles range between 2.2 to 2.8 volumes. Porters are on the lower part of that - 1.8 to 2.5 volumes. So you really could get away with 2.5 volumes, for example, and serve both to style.
Longer lines keep you from serving up pints of foam, but don't lower the carbonation level of your beer. With a single regulator on two legs, they'll both normalize to the same level, even if they start out different.
