brewed my second batch today, forgot to take gravity test before adding yeast, took one after was around .048 which the reciepe called for .044-.048 can i go by it. it is a extract kit from moore beer, blonde ale,

You should be ok you're in range, the SG on the kits are very accurate. The first few I did hit SG spot on.

With an extract kit it is almost impossible to miss OG unless your water volumes are way off.

You are good. Now the hard part......waiting.

Yeast are solid, but not dissolved solids like sugar be salt. I don't think it actually has an effect on the measurement of your wort gravity. Kind of like putting sand in a glass of water. Still should read 1.000.

Correct me if I am wrong.
