what are your thoughts with the end result using RO or distilled essentially following the primer for imperial stout? calculated this via brewers friend and my pH falls to about 5.3. seems low. i was thinking of just using my municipal (treated with campden and around 100 alkalinity)for the mash and then sparging with distilled. looks like my pH goes to 5.45 using this method. thoughts?

If your desired method puts your mash pH in the proper range, I'd say go for it. I've never used the primer because I build up my water and use Bru'n, but it should def get you to the desired end effect of where you want your beer to be.
