I have about 30ft of 3/8" soft copper I'm thinking of making into a CFC but it previously had furnace oil in it. Looking for opinions on whether I can effectively clean it with boiling water soap etc... to make it clean enough for beer. Not really sure if copper has any porosity to it.

Thanks

I would not say it's impossible, but the uncertainty level is high on this one.

Hydrocarbons and potable liquid systems generally are not a good mix.

Sell the tubing for scrap and buy new?

I'm sure it can be done. Recirculate a strong degreaser for a while, then an extensive rinsing process.....

But, for the cost of 30' of 3/8" tubing, is it really worth making furnace oil beer?

Make it into an immersion chiller instead. Then you don't have to clean inside, only outside.

Yea i wouldnt.

Make an IC as stated above, assuming the outside wasnt drenched in oil as well.
