So I went to my lhbs today to get together all of the grains for a stout recipe and it called for wyeast 1056 or the 1272....the american ale yeasts. The lhbs didnt have either. I asked for a similar strain and they recommended WLP090 San Diego Super.
Any opinions?

WLP090 should be pretty similar in flavor profile (very clean). If they don't have Wyeast, you could do WLP001 in White Labs.

Yea I was really surprised too. It really threw me off. I dont know if they were out of stock or what but come on. I setteled for the WLP090 (mostly because I haven't tried it yet) but the WLP001 was my next choice. I think they did have the US-05 but I didn't feel like driving back there later so I went on their advice.
Thanks for the quick responses guys
