Looking for feedback on placement of a recirc control valve when mashing in a 2 tier system. I plan to use heat rope on the return piping controlled by a PID to maintain mash temperature. I'm thinking the recirc valve will go at the return tee on the MLT so that all 3 valves to be operated are located in the same general area and above waist high for ease of operation. That will let me observe the return and/or sparge rate in the mash tun while throttling. Debating on whether it would function better directly off of the discharge of the pump, just mean bending down to adjust it then standing back up to look at the flow going in to the mash tun.

The heat tape functions as my RIMS......my intention was to completely avoid threads and use all 3/4" tri clamps.

Thanks for any feedback
