I'm interested in re-using commercial screw top cans (like Bud Light) for gifting homebrew to others. I mostly brew cider so the extra layer of safety for bottle bombs makes me feel better when gifting homebrew. I wonder if washing and sanitizing them with the standard chemicals (Oxygen wash/starsan) will weaken the BPA lining in such a way that it will be more likely to leach into the homebrew... Any resident chemists/hobbyists on this board that could chime in?

Never done it, but I don't see why it wouldn't work. I'd just rinse after emptying and starsan right before bottling. As long as the caps continue to hold pressure it shouldn't be an issue. Will you be can conditioning, or filling from a keg? That may make a difference, but as long as you get the sugar right in the bucket you should be good. :mug:
