So my current batch is a Vanilla Bourbon Porter recipe that a friend gave.
I added an extra pound of liquid extract to the recipe because I had it left over but now i'm dealing with an original gravity that's 1.081:rockin:

So my question is this: should I wait til this monster beer gets down to a reasonable 1.018 or round abouts before I rack it onto the vanilla beans, oak chips, and bourbon? The recipe says I should add it at 1 week but i'm thinking it might be better to add it when I go to the keg so the beer can be left alone with all of the yeast for the full month or so of primary.

If any of you guys are familiar with bourbon or liquored beers do you prefer to add them early on so the flavors can meld or do you add it late in the process?
