Hey guys,

Mere curiosity :D
I regularly buy Caballo de Oro's Cabernet Sauvignon wine. It's a cheap chilean wine and a good one, IMHO. Surprisingly, I opened a bottle yesterday and was overwhelmed by a clove smell (like smelling clove extract) and taste.
What can this be? I read that it can be caused by the oak barrels (they release eugenol, which cause this smell/taste), is it the case? Let me repeat that it is REALLY overwhelming...

I hope you will you be notifying your liquor store? You may have gotten the bottom of a barrel. Or they ordered a barrel extra toasty.

Actually, it was bought at a supermarket... I don't believe they'll take my notification into account :D
That makes total sense... Thanks :mug:
