Hi all,
Hope this is the right place to ask for help...
Please excuse me for not using the right terminology.
I have a few (now apparently very old), kegs and one, is leaking from the Outlet post.
They are 18lr and I was told they are the old coca cola 'syrup' kegs.
I've had them for about 8yrs. But have been told these these kegs are over 30yrs old.
I have noticed that the pressure in at least one of them is leaking. So I put 20psi (my carbonation pressure - was told that is right?). Then did the soapy water test and it is bubbling.
So off I went to the home brew store and they told me that most likely the seal has gone and then laughed at me that there is no hope to get a new seal or even another complete post!!
It just seems a real shame that I might have to throw away a perfectly good keg over a small rubber seal.
Is this post or finding a seal impossible...?
Now as you can see the top 'black' bit is actually a solid base with a small seal sat on top of it. So it does look like a big thick rubber seal, but it's not. The shop gave me a similar sized o-ring seal, but when I took it off, it is actually a form of instep seal, has slightly smaller inside diameter that fits - I guess - centralizes - the seal into the lower black solid bit.
So any guru's out there know where to get this stuff from. Or even the right names/description, so I can hunt around - Or do I just chuck the whole keg..?
Cheers,
Alan.
