Morning folks,
I just finished starting my first batch of Barley wine. Problem is o.g. is 1.150 should I starting adding more grape juice or what? Yes folks the recipe called for grape juice. This a 1gal. batch ,I have no problem with going to 2or3 gal.

What were you expecting the OG to be? That has a potential ABV content of 17++ - seems in line with style to me.

What OG does the recipe call for? 1.150 is REALLY high. You're going to have a tough time driving that gravity down to a reasonable terminal gravity. Adding grape juice should lower the gravity as it will dilute it a bit. Adding water would probably be a better idea...

It is possible your wort was not thoroughly mixed. The sample may have been drawn from a spot which had higher sugar content.
