NPT vs NPS fitting/plug help

I have a kettle that has a hot water tank element in the middle. I would like to remove it and relocate it lower on the vessel. I can't seem to find anywhere that will sell a single 1" ss NPS hex head plug. Ive found one really expensive 1" ss NPT, Would that work with my existing 1" NPS ss nut? Any other suggestions short of using another old element to plug up the hole?

The threads are the same with the only difference being taper vs straight. It should fit right into the spot. Just just a little teflon tape so that the stainless doesn't gall and you should be fine.
